Frequently Asked Questions
It is our goal to help every participant at That Sewing Place gain a sense of accomplishment and self-confidence while developing impressive sewing skills. We will project a feeling of acceptance, encouragement and love for everyone who associates with us and hope that time spent at That Sewing Place will become one of your happiest memories.
Can my child join an ongoing kids class at any time?
Yes! Even though our kids class semesters vary in length, feel free to get in touch to join even after the semester starts. Each student works at their own pace so as long as there are openings we can add students whenever they are ready!

What does tuition costs include?
Tuition price for kids classes include the spring/fall session and the first sewing project, which is a cute carrying bag which becomes their ‘sewing school’ bag.
Students can then take home their next project pieces in their sewing school bag and bring them back and forth to the weekly classes. We have pre-cut lots of these first project bag kits in a wide variety of colors and fabrics for students to choose from. This way they can get started quickly and feel successful right away.
A small fee will be charged for each subsequent project during the semester to cover the cost of fabric, etc.
Summer kids camp is a little different. The class tuition includes all materials for the projects completed in the week long class.
Adult classes vary with some prices including tuition only and some including materials as well. Please see each individual class description for details.
When is payment due?
Total payment for the full class/semester is due at time of registration.
A small fee will be charged for each new kids project to cover the cost of fabric, etc.
What is your refund policy?
Refunds are available for class cancellations up to one week prior to the start of class. We work with waiting lists and need time to fill your spot if you cannot attend. Keep in mind that tuition pays for the whole 4-6 week class time period (adult classes). If a reimbursement is made we will have to deduct a 3% service fee.
What about behavior issues?
We get it; kids are excited to come to sewing class and see their friends and teachers. We are glad they’re here! But sometimes behavior issues arise that distract the rest of the class. If we are seeing behavior issues with your student, we will give them warnings in class and then speak to you if the problem continues. If behavior doesn’t improve, your child may be removed from the class. In this case, refunds will not be issued.
What if I have to miss a class?
We understand that unforeseen sicknesses and scheduling conflicts come up for everyone. However, we are no longer able to offer kids makeup classes. Please be mindful when selecting your class session so your child is able to attend as many sessions as possible.
Adults needing to miss a class will need to let us know in advance. If you are not able to finish your project, you are welcome to come to any Wednesday Night Workshop until it is finished. Projects not completed/picked up will be kept for 90 days.
How much does each project cost?
On completion of each project, various other sewing projects and fabrics can be chosen by the student and are priced depending on the materials needed.
When the student is ready for their next project, the parents will be informed of which project was chosen and what the price will be. The price of each project is based on the type and amount of fabric and materials needed.
Adult class prices may include all the project materials that will be needed. (check the description for each class) Project classes such as quilt classes will come with a materials list the student will need to provide.
What age groups will be in each class?
Kids classes will have various age students combined because everyone will begin at their own level and work at their own pace. This makes it easy to enroll different age siblings in the same class! True beginners will be steered towards certain easier projects to sharpen their basic skills before moving on. Our team will help every student do their best and be successful and happy in their efforts.
We are striving to meet the needs of all ages and skill levels so please let us know if you have suggestions for other times or classes you would like us to schedule.
Kids classes will have a range of ages 9-18; adult classes will be 18+.
What supplies are provided?
That Sewing Place provides all machines, thread, notions, trims etc. for each child. Many of the adult classes also include all the supplies (please check the description on each of the classes) If you find that we don’t have the fabric that is quite right for you, please feel free to bring your own supplies. Also, if you find a project you would like to make, please bring it to class and we will be glad to help you with it!
For Wednesday Night Workshops, bring your own projects and any special supplies required and your own sewing machine if you wish.
What is the schedule for each semester? Do summer classes follow the same schedule?
That Sewing Place will offer a Spring and Fall Semester that won’t interfere with school calendars and take the same 2-week spring and fall breaks as Queen Creek School District.
Summer Semester is run differently where the student will come to class for 90 minutes each day Monday - Thursday. That way you can schedule a week of sewing camp around your family vacations and activities.
